Biodynamic Breathwork is a somatic approach to trauma and stress release using the six components of Breath, Movement, Sound, Touch, Emotions, and Meditation. This powerful technique supports the release of deep-rooted tensions held in the nervous system through exposure to stress and traumatic experiences. These tensions manifest within 7 areas in the body that correlate to the chakras, restricting the natural flow of the breath, showing up in the body as pain, illness, or how we relate to others, ourselves and our environment.
This week will focus on the Ocular belt. This belt relates to the eyes, forehead, and top of the head. When our nervous system is triggered by stress or trauma, our eyes are activated to assess our environment for threat, sending nerve impulses to the occipital area (the back of the neck) for processing. These areas, therefore, hold a great deal of tension and can manifest as headaches, tightness in the neck, face, temples, ears and jaw and can affect sight, hearing, focus and concentration. By releasing tensions in this area, we start to clear a pathway to calm the nervous system, release tension and gain more clarity, peace of mind and presence.
