Biodynamic Breathwork is a somatic approach to trauma and stress release using the six components of Breath, Movement, Sound, Touch, Emotions, and Meditation. This powerful technique supports the release of deep-rooted tensions held in the nervous system through exposure to stress and traumatic experiences. These tensions manifest within 7 areas in the body that correlate to the chakras, restricting the natural flow of the breath, showing up in the body as pain, illness, or how we relate to others, ourselves and our environment.
This week will focus on two belts simultaneously (as they are closely connected so need to be worked together). They include the areas of the jaw, mouth, chin, nose and ears, neck throat and tongue. These areas are the last place that we can hold back expression of emotions that arise from the body and so we can create tensions through our conditioning around what we can/can’t express. The jaw holds a great deal of tension, clenching it or grinding our teeth and the throat carries tension in the neck, trachea, and vocal cords, affecting our neck, our communication and restriction of the breath. We may get dry mouths, coughs, nausea, headaches or struggle to communicate or vocally express ourselves and this also impacts our creativity. By exploring vocal and physical release in this belt we regulate the nervous system, teach the body not to stop swallowing our feelings, create space for freedom of expression, connect our voice and free our expression of our inner selves.
