In this workshop, we’ll explore the practice of Focusing, an evidence-based Somatic technique discovered by philosopher Eugene Gendlin during research in the 1950s and 60s.
Focusing shares similarities with mindfulness; it involves noticing what is happening in the body and acknowledging it. However, instead of letting these sensations pass by, Focusing invites us to welcome them and listen to what they want to communicate. Research shows that being attuned to our bodies is essential for processing stress and developing resilience. By staying connected to our physical sensations, we unlock greater creativity and tap into our inner courage.
We’ll start with a guided grounding and centring exercise, followed by a Focusing practice to engage with our inner critic. Afterwards, there will be time for journaling and reflection.
